Master of Public Health (MPH) program: Maternal & Child Health Track

The School of Public Health’s Master of Public Health (MPH) program began offering a track in maternal and child health in the Fall of 2018. This new track, one of eight specialty tracks students may select in the MPH program, draws on the School’s well established strength in the field of maternal and child health. This includes a vibrant core of interdisciplinary faculty focused on these issues from the prenatal period through adolescence. The School’s Hassenfeld Child Health Innovation Institute provides research opportunities to MPH students, with active collaborations extending to the Brown University affiliated hospitals, state government, local government, community organizations, and industry.

In the Maternal and Child Health track students gain understanding of the major causes of maternal and child morbidity and mortality and of programs designed to foster maternal and child health.  Additionally, students gain advanced understanding of maternal and child epidemiology and of health systems issues relevant to maternal and child populations. This track prepares MPH students to apply their training to the special challenges of this population, providing knowledge and analytical skills, as well as practical hands-on experiences.
