The School of Public Health's largest ever graduating class was honored at Brown University's 258th Commencement and Reunion Weekend, held May 22–24, 2026. This year’s festivities were a profound testament to the resilience, dedication and vibrance that define Brown's public health community.

Hundreds gathered to celebrate over 400 graduates along with student and alumni award winners at the annual SPH pre-Commencement Community Celebration hosted by Dean Francesca Beaudoin.

As they prepare to trade the classroom for public health practice, two soon-to-be graduates of Brown’s intensive 5-year undergraduate/MPH program reflect on their shared journey, the experiences that have shaped their commitment to public health and their reasons for optimism in uncertain times.

Nurse Ashley Stacy-Boddapati, MPH ’25, the School of Public Health’s inaugural Emerging Leader Award honoree, founded a grassroots organization that’s tackling childhood lead poisoning in North Carolina and beyond.

Founder and CEO of SaveLIFE Foundation, Tewari has dedicated his career to making roads safer in India and across the world.

The expert panel—which discussed the overdose crisis in America—included a federal policymaker, a community organizer, as well as practicing physicians and public health experts.

Brown armed him with the tools needed to analyze and improve health policy, but Chima Ndumele’s passion for righting injustice keeps him looking forward, focused on improving the lives of low-income Americans.

Batool Behnam, Graduate Assistant with Swearer Center’s community partnership team and current master's student at Brown’s School of Public Health, is concentrating on Global Health and graduating this Spring 2024. Through research, teaching and community services, Behnam’s dream is to reduce inequalities among communities.

DeLauro, a longtime advocate for expanding health care coverage, improving the health of women and children, and addressing social determinants of health such as poverty, will speak to the class of 2024, sharing insights from her decades of public service.
