On April 25th, the Brown University School of Public Health welcomed an overflow crowd to the 2024 Dean’s Award Ceremony at the Hope Club. The festive occasion celebrated the work and achievements of faculty, students and staff over the 2023-2024 academic year.
Dean Ashish K. Jha took the stage, announcing the recipients of the Dean’s Awards for faculty and staff excellence, as well as the poster winners from Public Health Research Day 2024. “Each awardee has demonstrated exceptional dedication to the school and the outstanding work being carried out here,” Jha said. “Today, we honor these individuals and those who have worked tirelessly alongside them to achieve the many successes of our School of Public Health this year.”
With a sense of pride, Jha noted, “We’ve had a blockbuster year at the school. It’s our tenth anniversary, and we’ve welcomed esteemed guests like former White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain and the NYC Health Commissioner Dr. Ashwin Vasan for insightful public conversations. A new edition of the undergraduate journal of public health was launched, and on the research front, we’re poised to surpass $100 million in research grants. We’ve also seen a surge in new applicants and enrollments, solidifying our reputation as an exciting hub for cutting-edge research and practice.”
The Dean's Awards ceremony, Jha emphasized, is a celebration of the staff, students, and faculty whose unwavering commitment has made the school’s achievements possible.
