Biography

Why did you choose the Brown University School of Public Health?

In-depth student-faculty 1:1 (or even 1:many) mentorship was guaranteed, along with rich research opportunities with leading field experts. Outstanding data availability and very generous PhD compensation were also strong factors.

What makes Brown's program different from other programs you considered?

All promoted things become actualized under an amazingly supportive atmosphere and flexibility. You don't need to be concerned or hesitant to explore research projects, schedule a meeting with a renowned professor(s), or make creative suggestions. I am truly experiencing that the faculty, the staff, and all the resources are there to support my journey and success, as many of them said!

What do you enjoy most about your program?

The conversations that I have with faculty who are talented, passionate, and supportive. I am even more inspired and motivated by them whenever I share my thoughts or questions.

What is your academic area of interest and why?

I am interested in evaluating policy and delivery systems specifically among institutionalized Medicare beneficiaries. I am also interested in a study applying cost-effectiveness analysis.

What are your postgraduate goals/plans?

I would like to pursue my career in academia where I can contribute to producing evidence for the improvement in health care policy.

Why Providence?

Peaceful, but close to big cities such as Boston or NYC, and has so many fun things to enjoy. Many lovely places where you can mingle and study. Beautiful beaches are so close, so you can refresh and relax relatively easily when you feel stressed. Overall, the perfect place for your academic journey and beyond!

What advice would you give to a prospective applicant?

I would not be stressed out by each step and result throughout the application process, and during our journey beyond that. As long as we have the same purpose to promote the healthcare system in order to improve the quality of life of people, our work will cross paths with anyone, anywhere.
