LeaRRn Announces New Health System Partners, Spaulding Rehabilitation Network and Ivy Rehab Network

LeaRRn trains rehabilitation researchers in LHS research competencies with the ultimate goal of transforming rehabilitation care to improve quality, value, and outcomes.

LeaRRn logoLearning Health Systems Research and Rehabilitation Research Network (LeaRRn) welcomes our newest learning health system partners Spaulding Rehabilitation Network and  Ivy Rehab Network. These health systems join eight others in our Learning Health Systems (LHS) Innovation Hub.

LeaRRn trains rehabilitation researchers in LHS research competencies with the ultimate goal of transforming rehabilitation care to improve quality, value, and outcomes. LeaRRn funds LHS Scholars and pilot awardees to work with our LHS Hub partners under the guidance of experienced research mentors. These embedded researchers work to address rehabilitation research priorities identified by the health system, transforming health systems data into knowledge that can be implemented to improve practice. Our LHS research approach generates, implements, and disseminates research that can be used in real-world settings, reducing the widely recognized 17-year evidence to practice gap and ensures quality and value.

U.S. News and World Report’s 2022 “America’s Best Hospitals'' issue ranks Spaulding Rehabilitation Network the third ranked rehabilitation hospital in the country. Spaulding has two free-standing inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, a long-term acute care hospital, a skilled nursing facility and outpatient centers throughout Eastern Massachusetts (including several satellites throughout Eastern Mass.). This network is on the cutting edge of research, care, and innovation thanks to its affiliation with Harvard Medical School Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Spaulding Rehabilitation Network is also invested in research to improve patient health outcomes in all its services.

Ivy Rehab, the nation’s largest pediatric outpatient rehabilitation provider, is a rapidly growing network of best-in-class outpatient physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and applied behavioral analysis clinics. Serving local communities throughout 14 states, the Ivy Rehab Network is comprised of multiple brands dedicated to providing exceptional care, personalized treatment, and unparalleled outcomes.

Spaulding and Ivy Rehab offer exciting new opportunities for LeaRRn’s embedded LHS researchers to focus on pediatric rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, burns and outcome measurement development. Ivy Rehab serves a large pediatric population and will address a gap LeaRRn identified when reviewing the work of our LHS scholars. Spaulding Rehabilitation Network provides post-acute care to a variety of patient populations and will increase opportunities for our scholar and pilot programs.

LeaRRn’s overarching objective is to establish a national resource network to advance stakeholder-partnered, rehabilitation LHS research to improve quality of care, demonstrate value, and enhance patient and system outcomes.
