Suzanne Colby named Interim CAAS Director

Welcoming Professor Colby to the new role

We are delighted to share that Suzanne M. Colby, professor of psychiatry and human behavior and of behavioral and social sciences, will step in as interim CAAS director, effective August 1, 2022, until the ongoing search for a new permanent director concludes. We are so grateful for Professor Colby's commitment to ensuring a smooth transition for the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies as Peter Monti steps down from this role after more than two decades of leadership.

Please join us in welcoming Professor Colby to this new role. As an internationally recognized expert in adolescent substance use research, she has led multiple collaborative efforts aimed at developing effective interventions for tobacco and alcohol use among youth and other vulnerable populations. Professor Colby recently served as president of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT), and she has held multiple leadership roles within CAAS. Please read more about her background here.

We are confident that CAAS will thrive under  Professor Colby’s  steady and trusted guidance. We look forward to ensuring a successful transition as we head into the final phases of our search for a new permanent director.
